A quick look at Day 1:
- Flights, baggage, getting transportation, everyone’s mood – all marvelous so far. I don’t think any of us got much sleep, and we’re all dragging tonight (everyone is heading to bed and it’s not even 3:00 in the afternoon EST), but spirits are good and we had a lovely walk to a nicer mass (that I skipped, sorry) before dinner.
- The view of the sun rising over the Alps is one that will go in my personal all-time faves list. Mist in the valleys, peaks gradually becoming more sharply delineated as the sun gradually lit up the sky, the contrast of the increasingly bright orange light and the dim blue snow-covered cliff face growing clearer until fading completely as the sun moves beyond the horizon: oh yeah, *that’s* what it’s like to be in the presence fo the divine.
- We learned about the social contract we have agreed to being part of, and as Danilo and Laura went over the rules with the students I was reminded (for the thousandth time) of just how carved up their time is. Perhaps the biggest joy of this program is it’s practicality, since compensation is not part of the package.
See everyone tomorrow!
